Vienna and it’s wine
In a large city like Vienna wine growing is popular? In similar cities wine growing is often a tourist attraction. Not so in Vienna. Vienna is different. Wine growing is a huge economic factor with it’s nearly 650 hectare. The most known regions are Bisamberg, Strebersdorf, Stammersdorf and Jedlersdorf.
Vienna Wine Hiking Day
The Vienna Wine Hiking Day is taking place every year in autumn. Overall there are 25 kilometers on three different routes to hike. On each route a lot of specialities are offered.

10 a.m. – 06 p.m.
Route 1: Neustift to Nussdorf | 19. district
From Neustift am Walde to Nussdorf the first route is leading. Sievering, the Wien Cobenzl winery, and Grinzing, all legendary locations in the Viennese wine and Heuriger tavern traditions are inbetween this route. Your walk can also start at one of this stations if you prefer to hike not the whole route.
Route 2: Strebersdorf to Stammersdorf | 21. district
The second route goes from Strebersdorf to the legendary Heurige location Stammersdorf. The route is almost 10 kilometers long and is impressing with it’s landscape. Along the way you will be offered delicious culinary treats. Families can also enjoy the Magdalenenhof (at Bisamberg mountain) – a cildren’s farm.
Route 3: Ottakring to Neuwaldegg | 16. district
The shortest route at 4,5 kilometers starts at picturesque Wilhelminenberg Palace. The round trip shows you Sprengersteig and Paulinensteig and back to the Palace. Also good food and wine opportunities will be offered to you on this route.
